(60% malbec and 20% each bonarda and cabernet sauvignon; 15+% alcohol): Good bright saturated ruby. Superripe aromas of blackberry, cassis, graphite, menthol and spicy, chocolatey oak. Rich, broad and sweet, with lovely dark berry intensity and floral lift. Harmonious acidity contributes to the impression of energy and extends the wine's fruit. Finishes spicy and fine-grained, with firm tannins reaching the front teeth. This has the spine to evolve slowly and positively in bottle. 92 pts Argovino July 2013
A blend that would scream "Argentina" if it weren't so refined - all of the classic flavors of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, and bonarda are there, with sweet red and black berries sitting next to a box of baking spices, which reveal themselves by turns in the mouth as well thanks to a strong structure that carries through the long finish. This is the bottle you open at the first lecture of Argentine Wine 101.
