Awards, Reviews and other Notes

93 pts Vinous/Stephen Tanzer March 2016
(the Corte A is made from the best barrels of each variety; this wine spent 18 months in 60% new French): Bright full ruby. Rich, ripe aromas of plum, cassis and blackberry complemented by sexy French oak. Sappy, sweet berry and graphite flavors are sexed up by sweet oak and a musky note of milk chocolate. Wonderfully silky wine with inner-mouth floral lift and energy and some acidity yet to be absorbed. Carries its 15.3% alcohol effortlessly. This is already accessible but should evolve slowly and gracefully. This would make a great steakhouse wine, as Napa cabs of similar quality are at least twice as expensive. Incidentally, the Vistalba estate was originally established in 1948 as a Bordeaux house; even today it works only with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda.
92 pts James Suckling
Lots of blackberry and black currant character. Full body, firm tannins and a walnut and chocolate aftertaste. An outstanding undertone of ripe fruit. Needs time to open.

Winemaker Notes

Color: Intense garnet red with blue hues.
Nose: Complex nose where black fruit, nuts and spices stand out.
Palate: Great volume, sweet and silky tannins, with a pleasant and persistent finish.
