Vinedo de los Vientos

Vinedo de los Vientos Tannat 2007

Vinedo de los Vientos Tannat 2007 really showing well

Tasting Notes

Through our experiences with the grape as it is being produced in Uruguay, Uruguay Tannat may have the closest affiliation to an Old World style than any other wines being produced in the New World.
Fruit is not a primary note but a part of the greater whole, even secondary, but the wines do have fruit and plenty of it. It’s just not the gushing juicy upfront style.
Here the visuals are very dark and light capturing, with a purple edge to the rim. The nose is very unique with an assemblage of intriguing nuances. The nose offers up notes of cocoa powder, a hint of vanilla, some earth and a faint licorice tone and dry spices sitting over dark fruit characters aromatically. The palate is full and round, supple and dry, offering up dark black berry fruit flavors with a hint of some cocoa powder surfacing up on the finish. The tannins are firm, but polished and showing harmony and balance with the fruit. With several years of bottle age this is really showing well and should drink beautifully over the next 3-4 years.
