Viña Alicia is surrounded by a 10-hectare vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot grapes and some vines that are hardly found in Argentina, such as Nebbiolo, Grenache Noir and Carignan. Although the winery has a 50,000 liters production capacity, it only commercializes 30,000 bottles and around 80.000 bottles for both Paso de Piedra per year. Viña Alicia Currently enjoys the international prestige and recognition of the most outstanding personalities of the wine world.

Viña Alicia has two vineyards: “San Alberto” and “Viña Alicia” in Lujan de Cuyo. The geographical location, the type of soil and the regional climate place these lands among the most wanted lands of the world. Climate is template, Mediterranean, dry and the scarce rainfalls (180 mm, annual average) add up to the ideal conditions for vine growing. The soil origin is alluvial and has a loam-silty to sandy texture. Water for irrigation comes from the snow break in the high mountains of the Los Andes mountain range, through a unique irrigation system in the world. All these benefits plus water management according to the actual growing needs in terms of frequency and quantity make Lujan de Cuyo the first viticulture zone in Argentina,

In a scenario that is not too unlike the story of Robert Mondavi (and his pioneering significance to the US wine industry), comes the legacy of Alberto Arizu - the 70+ year old doyen of Argentina's wine industry. A viticulturist, enologist, wine maker, botanist and general agricultural pioneer - he has become over time perhaps the most trusted ambassador for the country's wine industry. If you have a question on how to make it or grow it better - he's your man - and he has done it! If you need to know how the vine will perform with "Rootstock X" or "Clone Y", he is your man! Need to know how to trellis a vine to protect it from hail damage while making sure the fruit ripens in accordance with your specific topographical limitations - just ask Alberto. If you have heard of the success of the Luigi Bosca brand, then you already know of the Arizu family and Alberto's success. That was his first commercial venture as a vigneron, while Vina Alicia is his "cheerleader" for the family legacy.
