Viña Chocalan Reserva Syrah 2013

Tasting Notes

June 2016
A visual deep dark purple color to the core leads to aromatics of eucalyptus, which speaks of the Maipo Valley and dissipates with aeration, giving this a spicy top note note along with a floral element, which settles into dark berry fruit on the nose. The palate is medium fuller bodied, with ripe but firmer tannins giving a powdery impression on the finish, with a core of darker fruit flavors that are juicy and vibrant, accentuated with some light spice and a touch of cocoa. As this opens up it fleshes out nicely. This is should show well over the next two-three years.

Winemaker Notes

Fresh and juicy; aromas of dark berries, violet and olive. Notes of black raspberry, cherry and a touch of floral. Balanced with smooth tannins lead to a spicy lingering finish.
