Verum Pinot Noir 2017

Verum Pinot Noir 2017 90 pts James Suckling

Tasting Notes

Oct 2017
The 2017 Verum Pinot Noir plays to the cool Patagonian climate perfectly with its medium bodied frame and sleek red fruits. Sixty percent of the wine was fermented in stainless steel, 20% in barrel and the 20% in concrete tanks, which was done to maximize the wine’s vibrancy and freshness. Aromatic notes of assorted red fruits, strawberry, raspberry and cherry are nuanced with spice, dried flowers and orange rind. The medium weight palate has lovely fruit purity, a lovely acid line and fine, elegant tannins. Now starting to show its potential this should drink nicely over the next couple of years.

Redcurrants, red cherries, orange rind and basil. Medium body, round tannins, fresh acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now.
89+ pts Wine Advocate Issue #237 June 2018
The 2017 Verum Pinot Noir was produced with grapes from two plots, and only a small fraction of the wine matured in barrels in order to preserve the fruit and freshness of the place. 2017 was a low-yielding year because of frost in November 2016. They used 50% full clusters for the fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and then 20% was put in barrel, 20% in concrete and the rest in stainless steel, where it aged for nine months with regular rackings. It has aromas of strawberries, decayed flowers, spices and some autumn aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, elegant tannins, a chalky texture and very tasty flavors. 16,000 bottles were filled in December 2017

Winemaker Notes

This is a terroir-driven Pinot Noir, fresh and that is easy to drink, with aromas of cherries, roses, and strawberries. Clone 777
