Thistledown 'The Cunning Plan' Shiraz 2013 Langhorne Creek fruit generosity with good structure

Tasting Notes

August 2017 - Although a fairly new entity, Thistledown has already been getting noteworthy reviews on its wine with numerous high scoring reviews from major wine publications. The 2013 Thistledown ‘The Cunning Plan’ Shiraz, using grapes sourced from nearby Langhorne Creek, was given a 90 point review by the Wine Spectator where they wrote, “Balances between juicy blackberry and blueberry flavors and velvety tannins. Violet and spice details accent the long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2025.”

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

90 pts Wine Spectator
Balances between juicy blackberry and blueberry flavors and velvety tannins. Violet and spice details accent the long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2025.

Winemaker Notes

Deep red/purple colour and a herbal, floral lifted aroma which seems to reflect some less ripe grapes. There are violet-like floral notes. It’s attractively aromatic. The palate is lean and nervy, medium-bodied and firm, with a little aggression in the grip. Good wine; even better with food.
