TerraNoble translates into Noble Land and is a reference to Chile’s clean and beautiful environment. Chile is relatively pollution free, with natural barriers of a cold ocean and high mountains to the west and east, and a barren dessert and extreme cold to the north and south. With a huge respect for nature and a desire to produce excellent wines, Jorge Elgueta founded TerraNoble in 1993 in the Maule Valley about 150 km south of Santiago. In 2003, following the passing of Jorge Elgueta, German businessman Wolf von Appen purchased the property and his dream of owning a top quality winery came to fruition.
With the new ownership came some plans for expansion. TerraNoble now has 360 hectares under vine with vineyards located in the Maule, Colchagua and Casablanca Valleys. Each vineyard is planted with varieties suited to that area. The winery now has a tasting center at their vineyard in the Casablanca Valley and they are considered large production by most standards, having four tiers of wine and a production of over 150,000 cases of wine per year.
