Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Shaw and Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2017 impressive ....

Tasting Notes

August 2018
The varietals classic herbal lift is evident but not excessive with pink grapefruit and a suggestion of fennel adding complexity to the aromatics. In the palate citrus, grapefruit flavors are bright and lifted with balanced acidity giving freshness and drive. Finishing juicy and dry this has serious depth and mouth watering length and should be enjoyed over the next year to 18 months to maximize its vibrant fruit.

Food Accompaniments

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

96 pts James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2018
This is a dignified sauvignon blanc that continuously reveals itself as you move from the bouquet through to the aftertaste of the palate. Initially it has classic restraint, but by the time you pick up the sweet fruit (not sugar) you realise it's the product of a vintage designed for sauvignon blanc.
92 pts Decanter
From high elevation vineyards, where yields are kept down and the grapes are hand-picked. This features crisply-scented lemon and bell pepper aromas with a hint of apricot. It's really well balanced in the mouth, the succulent but saline citrus fruit backed up by richer hints of stone fruit and tangerine, alongside a layer of wafting herbs. Very elegant.
