Schild Shiraz 2015

Schild Shiraz 2015 92 pts Wine Spectator 'Smart Buys'

Tasting Notes

The nose of the 2014 Schild Shiraz combines red and black fruit with a touch of dark chocolate and nicely integrated oak spice. Even while weighing in at just under 14.5% alcohol this still retains a certain sense of elegance. Medium fuller to fuller bodied, this is classic Barossa Shiraz, texturally soft and juicy, with deep red plum and black fruit flavors and super fine tannins. A nice undercurrent of acidity gives the fruit lift and freshness as well as balance. Seamless and drinking beautifully as we speak, this should show impressively over the next 5 plus years.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

92 pts Wine Spectator 'Smart Buys' 7/31/17
The toasted herb notes are distinctive, offering rosemary and bay leaf accents to the dried cherry and blackberry core, with accents of fresh orange zest and plenty of cigar box details. Expressive, especially on the finish. Drink now through 2030.

Winemaker Notes

Sourced from a number of carefully selected estate vineyard parcels in an around Lyndoch and Rowland Flat, Schild Estate’s Barossa Shiraz is designed to reflect the soft elegant palate of Schild’s viticultural home in the Southern portions of the Barossa Valley.
