Rod McDonald 'Mister' Syrah 2015 |
|
Rod McDonald 'Mister' Syrah 2015 - a gorgeous, lighter style |
Tasting
Notes |
Oct 2018 - The 2015 Mister Syrah is a great representation of a cooler climate Syrah,
offering perfectly ripe fruit at only 12.5% alcohol by volume. The nose is
fresh and fragrant with a touch of white pepper and coriander spice lifted
by a touch of florals along with a note of earthiness all wrapped up in the
blackberry and raspberry fruit tones aromatically. Fruit forward in style,
this is very accessible and elegantly structured, with a nice underpinning of
acidity and finely tuned tannins that firms up the back end on its medium
bodied frame. Moderately concentrated with good depth and bright
acidity, the blackberry and spicy red berry/raspberry fruit flavors are lively,
giving engaging vibrancy to the palate. This is now starting to open up and
should continue to drink beautifully over the next 3- 4 years. Match with
Asian or Middle Eastern cuisine, or as Rod says, it’s a great
match for duck as well. |

Winemaker Notes |
Deep crimson in colour with bright berry fruit,
violet and white pepper aromas. The palate tastes
of plums, fruit spice and wild herbs, complimented by silky smooth tannins. This is a supple wine with real drinkability. |
