4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Consistency a hallmark of this great-value shiraz, 15 doesn’t disappoint, but tight & less revealing in youth. Perfect balance between ripe fruit, textured concentration & fresh tannins; harmony, complexity future pleasures.

Concrete fermented with 30% whole bunches, food-trodden and aged in large wooden foudres: this field blend of Syrah wouldn’t look out of place in the northern Rhône. Bloody, dense and firm, with notes of liquorice and dark, brooding fruit supported by tannins and freshness. 2018-25

The 2015 Syrah, which comes from granite soils and biodynamically cultivated vines, has a tightly wound but pure bouquet at first with blueberry, boysenberry, iris and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very good backbone, a fine bead of acidity with black fruit infused with truffle, clove, white pepper and a touch of rosemary. I love the length here, the freshness and complexity, a Syrah with a long future ahead. This is stunning value.
