Domingo Molina

Palo Domingo 2013

Palo Domingo 2013 from Domingo Molina, extremely limited, only 2,000 bottles produced, grown at 6,600 feet above sea level

Tasting Notes

Only 2,000 bottles of this Malbec dominated (90%) wine were produced, this is the flagship wine of Domingo Molina, named in honor of Palo Domingo, father to two sons who now run the winery. Grapes are grown in the Rupestre (Petroglyph) Valley, Salta, Argentina at an altitude of 6,600 feet above sea level. Composition is 90% Malbec, 6% Tannat and 4% Cabernet. Altitude is considerably higher than in Mendoza which helps to compensate for the more northerly latitude.

Winemaker Notes

Dark, deep red color with purple notes, full body, good structure and concentration. The aroma of red fruit, and of forest fruits, with a subtle and delicate hint leather, tobacco and chocolate, originates from its careful aging in new French oak casks. This wood elegantly balances this wine’s excellent level of fruit. Enormous richness and opulence on the palate. Very well made. Lots of layers and it reveals the proud identity of its origin, Rupestre Valley, the birthplace of which it is a worthy representative. This is a wine of great finesse and elegance. It has excellent balance and harmony as well as a very long finish. It is, without a doubt, an excellent wine for its concentration and complexity, great quality, unique and marked personality. This wine is drinking beautifully right now or can be laid down for another 5 years.
