Some wines just grab you and take you on a full throttle sensual experience with their exceptional fruit purity, depth and drive. This single vineyard Shiraz out of McLaren Vale is such a wine. A Decanter magazine gold medal winner gives some extra credence to its quality, but this is a wine that must be tasted to truly appreciate. The fruit is juicy and concentrated but the structural backbone says that this is more than just a big bruiser, there’s a certain degree of finesse to back up the fruit weight which helps separate it from most we have tried of its genre. All said and done whether you like Aussie Shiraz or not, this wine can stand on its own no matter what. A real gem and at a price that makes it a steal…

The 2008 McLaren Parish Shiraz was fermented and matured for 14 months in 75% new French and American oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it delivers an excellent perfume of Asian spices, incense, blueberry, and chocolate. Full-bodied, dense, and spicy on the palate, it has the structure to evolve for 2-3 years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2011 to 2020.

Winemaker Notes

This Shiraz was sourced from the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. The wine was crushed, destemmed, inoculated with yeast then underwent primary ferment in vinimatics and static fermenters with manual pump over every 6 hours. Upon completion of primary ferment, the wine was then pressed and racked to new and 1 year old French and American oak for 12 months for MLF fermentation and maturation.
Dense crimson with youthful purple hues. Lifted aromas of sweet cherry and plum entwined with dark chocolate, earth and allspice. On the palate, rich and full flavoured with juicy dark plum, chocolate, earth and black pepper with silky tannins and good length.
