Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Neil Ellis Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2017 4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter’s South African Wine Guide

Tasting Notes

This is a lovely example of a cool climate Sauvignon Blanc, with its lifted aromatics combining green herbs and hint of capsicum/bell pepper and some wet stone minerality to the subtle tropical and white tree fruits on the nose. The palate has a light creaminess, giving this good mid palate breadth and an engaging texture that is countered perfectly by the wine’s acidity.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Vivacious 17 textbook example of the variety, intense capsicum, crushed green herb aromas, wet pebble minerality, enlivened acidity. More expressive, less flinty than 16, with lees aging creaminess, palate breadth.

Winemaker Notes

Groenekloof is situated near Darling on a series of hills running along the Cape West Coast. Strongly influenced by the interaction of soil, topography and climate, this Sauvignon Blanc is lively, complex and reflective of its origin.
Pale straw with green hues. Bright aromatics, of fresh late summer fruits, lifted florals with subtle herbaceous overtones. Delicately detailed. The palate is elegantly concentrated with sweet tropical fruits and lively balanced acidity. Mineral notes, refined, poised palate line. Fine texture and long flavoursome finish.
