Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2014

Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2014 outstanding value from one of Australia's premium Pinot Noir producers

Tasting Notes

This has a multi-faceted nose that makes us so enthralled with the variety. Here the nose combines exotic baking spice and earth tones, tea leaf, sandal wood, then some clove and star anise over riding ripe red cherries aromatically. Medium bodied, cherry fruit flavors, dark and red, come to the fore, with some savory, spicy undertones supported with beautiful tannin structure that gives firmness on the finish while adding a velvety textural feel. The juicy and brighter pitched red fruit is in perfect balance with enlivening acidity that leads to a long mouthwatering finish. This is a gorgeous bottle of wine with a number of years in front of it. This is quite delicious and an exceptional value.

Food Accompaniments

Duck, venison, pork, mushroom risotto

Winemaker Notes

Bright garnet in colour with a nose redolent of juicy ripe red cherries, violets, earthy complexity and just a hint of licorice and spicy notes of clove and star anise.
On the palate, more cherry fruit, with some savoury undertones and firm, velvety tannins. Juicy fruit balances perfectly with crunchy acid, firm tannins and a long, mouthwatering aftertaste.
This wine is such a delicious, complex, balanced drink. Will pair well to BBQ quail or rare duck breast with cherry sauce.
