Matahiwi Estate Pinot Noir 2018

Matahiwi Estate Pinot Noir 2018 90 pts Wine Spectator

Tasting Notes

Aromatically this starts off with a savory top note of herbs and light smoky, char and earth element which quickly settles into the red berry, cherry notes. Medium bodied this offers a nice mix of savory and fruit tones with a jiucy quality to the red berry/cherry flavors. The underlying acidity gives it cut and focus while the tannins firm up everything on the backend. This has the structure to age over a number of years.

Food Accompaniments

Duck, salmon, turkey with all the fixings, lamb

Winemaker Notes

This attractive, soft Pinot Noir shows red berry, dark plum and cherry flavours with fragrant fresh hay and savoury oak characters. On the palate, it is soft and round, with a hint of spicy smoky oak and a long finish.
