Lingen 2016

Lingen 2016 60% Shiraz, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon & 20% Petit Sirah - 4 ½ Stars 2019 Platter’s South African Wine Guide

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

b> 4 ½ Stars 2019 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Alluring 16 (92 pts) shiraz, cab & petit verdot, dubbed ‘braai for billionaires’! Textural generous black & blue fruit with a tinge of coffee & smoke. Seamless & silky, with effortless restraint, aged in mainly French oak (30% new); it will for ages.

Winemaker Notes

Made at Stark-Conde, grapes are sourced from the next-door Lingen vineyard, owned by the Krige family. A unique blend of Syrah (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Petit Verdot (20%). Lingen has vilafonte soils, different from the red soils on our Oude Nektar farm and it makes the wines softer in structure with a touch of wild “fynbos.” One of our customers described this wine as a “braai wine for billionaires.
