Lake Chalice

Lake Chalice Pinot Noir 2013 - 1 Bottle Left

Lake Chalice Pinot Noir 2013 - originally $19.99

Tasting Notes

July 2016
The 2013 Lake Chalice Pinot Noir starts off with an intriguing aromatic profile, offering notes of spice, shades of earth and underbrush with a strong under pinning of cherry and plum fruit. Medium to medium fuller bodied the red fruits of cherry and plum are juicy supported by supple tannins that give this a smooth texture. There’s a stony, mineral edged element to the red fruit flavors along with a touch of earth on the dry finish. This plays a nice mix of savory and fruity tones making it a great match for food. Showing well as we speak this should be enjoyed over the next couple of years.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

Strictly varietal and no nonsense to that fact, the rich and persistent 2013 Lake Chalice is pretty powerful, yet pure. This one calls for grilled lamb, with savory herbs. Medium brick garnet color; red fruit, pleasing; medium bodied, just a bit rustic, red fruit flavors; medium finish, sweet tannins in the aftertaste. (Tasted: August 14, 2015, San Francisco, CA)

Winemaker Notes

Classic Pinot aromas of raspberry and ripe cherries, with subtle savory notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a soft, full palate, well balanced acidity, supple tannins and flavours that linger. Dark berries and ripe cherry with lifted violets are apparent on the nose and flow through the palate. They are well supported by nuiances of fine grained oak tannins.
