4 ½ Stars 2017 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Quintessential Kanonkop cabernet. Handsomely structured with fine-toned muscle, imposing tannic grip framing subtle walnut, dark fruit intrigue. Ageworthy classic from excellent vintage. 50% new oak.

This has the tense concentration of a mountain-grown cabernet, its cool red currant flavors floral and zesty upfront, then firming up as the tannins come in on the end. Those tannins are still potent, the wine needing bottle age to mellow.

Pleasant grassy notes and baking spice aromas. Balanced and fruit-forward, thin tannins and quite round on the palate. Lots of black berries here. Enjoy now.
