Awards, Reviews and other Notes

90 pts Wine Advocate Issue #230 April 2017
The 2011 Brut Rose is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, containing slightly less residual sugar than the current non-vintage Rosé. It offers appealing orange blossom and rose petal scents that gradually gain momentum in the glass. The palate has a soft opening, yet fine tension, some lovely white peach, orange zest and apricot notes with a finely tuned, very elegant finish. This delicious sparkling rosé should be consumed over the next 4-6 years. And hey, it's few dollars cheaper than its "DP" equivalent!
4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Amber-tinted 11 sparkling from pinot noir with 20% chardonnay. Kaleidoscope of aromas & flavours, weighty mid-palate from 5 years lees aging.

Winemaker Notes

Crafted from 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay the Brut Rosé Vintage was produced in our Robertson Méthode Cap Classique cellar from grapes sourced from our Firgrove farm (Pinot Noir) and our Robertson estate (Chardonnay). The two varietals each add their own special magic to the final blend – Chardonnay for fruit and elegance and Pinot Noir for length of flavour and a touch of colour. During vinification we followed a unique approach (a first for South Africa), whereby the whole bunches, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, were jointly pressed as a blend, in the same press. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks the wine was bottled for secondary fermentation with a total of 36 months yeast contact before disgorgement. The delightful salmon pink colour perfectly complements the delicious strawberry fruit flavours. Savour the light yeasty aromas, good freshness on the nose and rich creamy complexity on the palate. Fine mousse and a great length of flavour round off this blushing stunner.
Delicate and a delightfully demure, yet complex and richly rewarding – this vintage Brut Rosé ticks all the boxes for serious bubbly connoisseurs.
