Frankland Estate 'Poison Hill' Riesling 2015 - *last bt*

Frankland Estate 'Poison Hill' Riesling 2015 97 pts James Halliday

Tasting Notes

This is a bit riper and richer than previous vintages with more fruit weight and a touch of sweetness, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Here you get all the citrus and floral notes on the nose one would expect while the palate combines clean succulent assorted citrus flavors with some steely minerality and a vein of acidity that drives the gently sweet fruit flavors to an impressive finish. Showing impeccable balance this should drink beautifully over the next 5 plus years quite easily

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

97 pts James Halliday 2017
There is always (of course) a difference between the Poison Hill and Isolation Ridge, but seldom is it more obvious than this year. This is immediate and naked power, with a cascade of lime and grapefruit flavours running through the palate, finish and aftertaste. Ripe, to be sure, but how enjoyable. It's an orange and apples comparison, yet with the same outcome.

Winemaker Notes

The Frankland Estate Poison Hill Vineyard Riesling is a bright gold color, with a highly-perfumed nose of orange blossom, rose petal and jasmine, complimented by hints of ripe citrus, spice and tangerine notes. The palate is elegant and delicate, with a pronounced citrus edge and complex amalgam of orange peel, spice and quartz-like minerality, complemented by a subtle undertone of finely-textured acidity giving the wine impeccable balance and fruit weight.
