Errazuriz 'Wild Ferment' Chardonnay 2015

Errazuriz 'Wild Ferment' Chardonnay 2015

Tasting Notes

Nov 2017 - The 2015 Wild Ferment from Errazuriz was given a moderate oak regimen, mainly used French oak barrels, only 15% new, with half of the wine going through malolactic fermentation. The end result is a wine that is linear with assorted citric and apple notes and chalky minerality. The nose offers high pitched citrus, lime and grapefruit and white orchard fruit notes of apple and pear touched by with a hint of soft vanilla and nuts. Medium fuller bodied, sleek and smooth in texture, this is focused with highlighting lime and green apple flavors that are driven by juicy acidity this has very good depth to the fruit flavors, finishing long and tangy. Showing well as we speak this has the acid backbone to age over the next 2-3 years quite easily.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

(raised in French oak barrels, 15 percent of them new, for a year; 50 percent of the wine went through malolactic fermentation) Limpid straw. High-pitched citrus fruit and floral aromas carry a chalky mineral overtone and a hint of leesiness. Vibrant and focused on the palate, offering juicy lime and green apple flavors that show very good depth and tension. Smoothly plays power off finesse and finishes long and seamless, leaving behind sappy tangerine and honeysuckle notes.

Linear and focused white with sliced pear and apple character. Medium to full body, honey, mineral and salty undertones. Steely and austere. Serious for the price. Fermented and aged in used barrels. Drink now.
