Boschkloof Syrah 2015

Boschkloof Syrah 2015 94 pts Tim Atkin MW 2017

Tasting Notes

Sept 2018 - The 2015 Boschkloof Syrah starts off a little reductive with suggestions of tar and game that with aeration opens to notes of wild herbs, violets, pepper and dark berries aromatically. Medium fuller bodied this starts out tight but unfolds to offer a seamless, supple textural feel, with juicy core of spice inflected dark berry flavors supported by finer tuned and nicely integrated tannins. Finishing dry and long this should be laid down for a year and then enjoyed for 3-4 years after that.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

94 pts Tim Atkin MW 2017
Given the quality of the Epilogue Syrah, and the Bormans’ expertise with the variety, it’s no surprise that this well-priced red is so tasty. Meaty, focused and stony, with aromas of wild herbs and ginger spice and a dense, focused finish. 2019-25.
4 ½ Stars 2018 Platter’s South African Wine Guide
Always admirable, getting the mix of complexity, typicity & ripeness seamlessly together. Mainly one clone in 15, known for its perfume, piquant wild berries & violets. Tannins expertly judged credentials for cellaring but already inviting.
