Aniello '006 Riverside Estate' Pinot Noir 2017

Aniello '006 Riverside Estate' Pinot Noir 2017 Tasty, clean, balanced and pleasant, easy to drink - Wine Advocate

Tasting Notes

10/26/18
Here’s a lovely, value oriented Pinot Noir from the cool, windswept plains of the upper Rio Negro Valley of Patagonia, Argentina. Playing perfectly to the varietal this is a medium bodied wine with a touch of rose petal and orange peel given even more nuance with some spice inflection to the red berry fruit on the nose. On opening the palate is tight but gains flesh and opens up nicely with some aeration, revealing clean and nicely focused cranberry and red cherry flavors supported by nicely integrated tannins that lead to a finish that has a savory edge to it. This is just now opening up and should drink impressively over the next couple of years.

Named after the plot where the grapes were sourced, the 2017 006 Pinot Noir fermented in concrete vats with full clusters and indigenous yeasts. Fifty percent of the wine matured in used 225-liter oak barrels, with the rest kept in concrete, and it was bottled six months after the harvest. It's medium-bodied with fine tannins, varietal notes of red berries and a floral touch. Tasty, clean, balanced and pleasant, easy to drink.

Lots of citrus and orange rind here, but there's no shortage of Chinese spices, incense, herbs and asphalt. The palate is taut with lots of tension and red fruit supported by firm tannins. Drink now.

Winemaker Notes

Attractive pale ruby color. With lovely aromas of red fruit such as cranberry and strawberry, along with some hints of roses and earthy minerals. Round tannins and an enhanced minerality, with a beautiful structure and finis
