While the original vineyards surround the winery complex, additional vineyard areas have been site selected to contribute to the high standard of viticulture and to bolster the annual intake supply.
MOORLAND VINEYARD -- 16 hectares
Established in 1980 with Riesling vines, this vineyard was the first in the district to be planted on grafted stock. Subsequent redevelopment has re-established the varietal mix of Riesling, Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay.
THE WALLOPS -- 8 hectares - Established 1985
Across Jacksons Road from the winery The Wallops is a homestead block that was originally planted by Allan and Catherine as contract growers for neighbouring winery Cloudy Bay. Now an integral component of Allan Scott Sauvignon blanc, the vineyard also contains viticultural management operations.
THE HOUNDS -- 11 hectares
Established proportionately in Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot noir, The Hounds is situated in Old Renwick Road in close proximity to the winery. Its convenient location makes it an ideal base for our nursery and viticultural research and development.
Although some of the original wines were processed at a contract winemaking facility, Allan Scott Wines are now all vinted at our modern winemaking facility situated in Jacksons Road, Blenheim. The purpose built winery has a refrigerated stainless steel fermentation capacity of 400,000 Litres and utilises new technology winemaking equipment. Temperature controlled rooms for barrel fermentation and oak maturation allow control of traditional winemaking methods also employed.
A new bottling hall and warehouse complete our self-contained winery, making it one of the few such facilities in Marlborough. Our modern, well-equipped Laboratory allows quality assurance and research to be carried out on site.
