The 2005 Swingbridge Vineyard Shiraz was sourced from a vineyard planted in 1920 on its own roots. It was raised for 20 months in 30% new French oak hogsheads. Purple-colored, its nose emits aromas of chocolate covered cherries, spice box, vanilla, and spicy blue fruits. Quite elegant for a Barossa Shiraz, it has a smooth texture, well-concealed tannins, excellent depth and grip, and a fruit-filled finish. Give it another two years to round out and drink it through 2020.
