Tempranillo from the Limestone Coast of South Australia isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, especially this particular style when thinking about wines out of Australia. This isn’t a front ended, fruity version hit with gobs American oak with lots of vanillin and coconut overtures to the fruit. This has a savory component with darker cherry fruits lurking underneath with a lighter tannin base that gives it just the right amount of grip on its finish. Surprising depth and structure says this is in need of some food to really make it shine. This shows why Australia is not a one trick pony in that there are enough differences in flavors and styles to really keep things interesting. This offers a point of difference that makes this a good value for the money.
