June 2010 - Marsanne grown in the Nagambie Lakes Region of Central Victoria, located several hours north of Melbourne , is as unique to the Australian wine culture as is the Semillon that comes out of the Hunter Valley . Both have the ability for aging exceptionally well, blessed with a firm vein of acidity for structural support and a fresh citric cut to the fruit. The Goulburn Valley area has more vines planted to Marsanne than anywhere in the world, with Tahbilk being at the forefront in terms of plantings and notoriety. Tahbilk, established in 1860, is steeped in tradition and is registered as a historic property (National Trust classification).
The 2008 Tahbilk Marsanne displays classic features of the varietal with floral notes and a combintion of white tree fruit characters and citrus. A backbone of minerality pushes through adding some interesting nuance to the palate. Clean and crisp, and finishing quite dry, the palate has good textural roundness with nice supporting acidity which says this should age nicely over the next 5 plus years.

91 pts James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2010
A quite backward bouquet with honeysuckle and apple in evidence; tightly wound, yet quite generous on the palate, with a fine line of minerality following through to the conclusion. Screwcap. 12.5% alc. To 2015.
