Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc has positioned itself as one of the more interesting as well as best buys in South Africa Sauvignon Blanc. In a country renown for making serious Sauvignon Blanc this over the last several years has really stepped it up. Possessing a cool climate precision to the fruit, the gooseberry, lime and greener melon and fig notes on the nose makes you think this would be a touch on the lean side. But the palate has a captivating presence with good viscosity and weight along with mouthwatering, tangy green fruit flavors and a slight smoky, flinty mineral edge on the finish. Young and primary this should really develop nicely over the upcoming year. Stocks as always are limited so get it while you can. |

This is really precise, with great cut to the nervy chive, thyme, lime, pippin apple and fleur de sel notes that run seamlessly through the mouthwatering finish. Offers nice latent weight. Drink now. 90 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 2011
Pale bright yellow. Subtle, pure aromas of soft citrus fruits, gooseberry, quinine, ginger and fresh herbs. Then supple, round and spicy in the mouth, in a rather laid-back, polite style. Subtly mouthfilling, dry sauvignon with a firm edge of acidity and little in the way of greenness. Finishes with subtle, dusty persistence. This winery was co-founded and is partly owned by Anthony Hamilton Russell. |
