Shaky Bridge Pinot Noir 2006 exceptional value on this Central Otago Pinot Noir
When we were first told about this wine we weren’t sure what to expect as one of our reliable reps said he had a Pinot Noir that we might find interesting. On doing a little research we discovered that it had a solid review (88 pts wine Spectator), but the suggested retail was around $35. When we tried the wine we liked it but not at that price. So… when we finally got down to the brass tacks we found out we could sell this for under $15, which made it a good deal. Lovely nose, dark cherries, with intriguing nuances of spice along with a touch of smokiness and earthiness gives this an engaging aromatic profile. Medium to medium fuller bodied the tannins are nicely integrated and the fruit is still vibrant with lots of darker cherry accentuated with the exotic spice component carrying over from the aromatics. What actually sold us on the wine was the fact that this still had several more years of nice drinking and hadn’t lost of its fruit’s luster. At $35 a bottle this was no deal but at under $15 you can sign us up all day long. This now becomes a solid buy, with the 6 bottle pricing making it a terrific bargain.

Firm in texture and light in weight, with ripe cherry and exotic spice flavors at the core, lingering nicely against fine tannins. Best from 2010 through 2013.
