With the dollar in the tank versus other currencies it is becoming more difficult to find wines with exceptional character below the $15 price point. Most of the wines from Australia that hit this price point are from the larger producers and come from the river lands. To find something from a small producer with a high profile appellation such as the Clare Valley takes some work. Having had the opportunity to try this wine several times we can honestly say that it is an outstanding buy and gives full expression to the Cabernet varietal. A mixture of red and black currant fruit with a balanced edge to the herbal underpinning, this has some noted structure to the palate with excellent intensity and depth to the fruit along with fine tuned tannins that make this a great everyday wine. This has some surprising pedigree and although made for early consumption this should hold for 3-4 more years with ease.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes: Hand picking at optimal ripeness and fermentation in open vats has resulted in a full flavoured classic Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Rich sweet summer fruit flavours with mint overtones, sweet oak and full mouthfeel – enjoy as a young wine
