Accompaniments
Pinotage is the red wine for lovers of spicy cuisine. South and East Asian meat dishes such as lamb curries or Chinese barbecued pork go well , as do Mexican and Tex Mex dishes such as chilli con carne.

Reviews and other Notes
89 pts Wine Enthusiast Edtiors Choice This is a stylish Pinotage and may turn skeptics into believers on the eccentric variety. Waves of ripe red fruit, cedar, vanilla and spice are followed by dense layers of red berry fruit, warming spices and a touch of smoke. The acid and fruit is balanced and the overall character complex but friendly. An assertive but food-oriented wine. EDITORS CHOICE.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were hand picked into small baskets and taken to our cellar at Donkerhoek in Paarl where they were destalked and gently crushed. The wine fermented in small open bins and was hand punched 4 times a day. Before the wine was totally dry, we pressed it with a small basket press. The newly pressed wine was placed in a mixture of new and used American and European oak barrels to complete alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wine spent eleven months in barrels and was bottled in January 2008. 6500 bottles have been produced.
