Reviews and other Notes
92-93pts, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, July/August 2004, Issue 115 (reportedly from old vines that have been in the Hardy family for more than 100 years and that produced half a ton an acre in 2002; aged in once-used French barriques): Saturated ruby. Pungent, pure aromas of blackberry, lavender, violet and pepper; showed some eucalyptus with aeration. Superconcentrated, bright and very deep, with a layered texture and superb inner-palate energy. Thoroughly ripe but dry, with excellent structure and grip. Finishes very long and sweet, with tannins buried under peppery, floral berry fruit. (I tasted a barrel sample of this wine drawn shortly before the bottling.)
