This is very classy with a Burgundian slant, playing more on finesse than power, yet retaining good fruit intensity and richness. The toast is more downplayed than in previous vintages, with hints of lemon grass, lime, honeyed pear and a subtle butter, malo element that adds a slight nutty, marzipan element to the nose. Clean yet rich, medium, medium fuller bodied its creamy texture is brightened with some lime, citric cut finishing with a hint of hazelnut on the finish. This plays a nice tension between the creamy texture and clean, crisp fruit. Very well made this is another excellent Chardonnay from one of South Africa’s proven stars. |

Clean and fresh, with green apple, fig and pear flavors on a bright, unadorned frame. The tangy finish leaves a mouthwatering feel. Not nearly as big as the 2005, but should age nicely. Drink now through 2009. |
