Marklew Chardonnay 2009 rich but cut with a nice citric edge to the fruit

The 2009 Marklew Chardonnay is a definitive New World style with ample oak and concentrated fruit richness. Initial upfront toast gives way to honeyed orchard fruit and a citric lift that cuts through the richer tones, with some butterscotch and hazelnut notes to the wines aromatics. The palate is creamy, with some citric zip cutting a swath thru the riper, honeyed orchard fruit, allowing the wine to show freshness by its carrying acidity. This still needs a little time for the full oak /fruit integration to harmonize all components but everything is in place for rewarding drinking with a little patience. Otherwise, decant before serving.
