Manos Negras Pinot Noir 2008 from Patagonia comes this outstanding value Pinot Noir
Tasting
Notes
6/10/10
For the money this is shockingly good. Sourced from selected lots within a twelve year old, fifty hectare vineyard, only around 2,000 cases were produced for this initial release. We love Pinot Noir and it is pretty difficult to find a Pinot at this price point with this much personality. Vivid reddish violet in color the nose has a slight floral lift, a touch of an earthy mineral component, reflective of the clay and heaver iron laden soils, along with bright red fruits. The palate plays Pinot Noir’s seductive elegance, with a soft suppleness to the texture. Red fruits abound with surprising depth and length. All in all, an exceptional value that with aeration seems to really open up and broaden across the mid palate. This should only continue to get better over the next couple of years. Pretty hard not to like this one.
