2006 La Motte Chardonnay very clean with just a touch of oak

The 2006 La Motte Chardonnay has evolved quite nicely since when we first tried it around 7-8 months a go. It has taken on a more Burgundian quality with a top note of blanched almonds over the faint pear and citrus peel tones aromatically with an ever so subtle note of toasted oak and butter peaking up through on the nose as well. Slightly creamy, but more linear in the palate, this is a medium to medium fuller bodied wine with just a touch of roundness to the mouth feel, but still quite vibrant and lively with its supporting citrus and white tree fruit flavors. Clean with good focus and drive the nuttiness from the nose carries over into the finish which adds an interesting component as well as additional complexity. With its dry finish and vibrant but restrained fruit flavors this has tremendous food diversity. Enjoy this over the next 3-4 years.
