(from vines up to 58 years of age; 75% new oak, 25% second-fill barrels): Good bright medium ruby. Precise, vibrant aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, bitter chocolate and violet. Sweet, dense and fine-grained, offering superconcentrated dark fruit flavors with a smoky, almost roasted ripeness nicely buffered by superb acidity. Finishes rich, dry and long. Pinotage is not for everyone, but it doesn't get much better than this.
