Kaapzicht 'Steytler' Pinotage 2006 - last bottle - exceptional wine

Notes
4/16/10
This is pretty exotic for a Pinotage starting with its nose of bright darker red fruits, macerated dark cherries and fig paste that are immersed into more savory notes reminding of cocoa powder and an ever so slight suggestion of wet tobacco leaf aromatically. The palate is brighter and juicier than the nose suggests with a core of sweet cherry and darker berry fruit flavors that are backed with powdery tannins. Finishing dry with noted length this has an engaging sweet fruit base, juicy and lively, and a sleek texture and impeccable balance that speaks of pure class. Not inexpensive by any measure, especially for Pinotage, this really is one of the finer versions we have tried in quite some time. Outstanding!
