91 pts Wine Spectator Insider 3/7/07 Pure and ripe, and filled with textbook Pinot notes of crushed cherry, currant, spice and forest floor. Silky, with a long, minerally finish that shows nice grip. Drink now through 2009. 90 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 2007 Medium red. Complex nose melds bitter cherry, minerals, tobacco, leather and rose petal. Dense, sweet and suave, with a saline quality and good sappiness to the flavors of wild red berries, minerals, earth and blood orange. Chewy, dusty, fairly fine tannins and firm acidity give grip to the finish of this broad, savory, singular pinot noir. Distinctly Burgundian in its complexity and elegance; a second bottle I tasted chez moi held its own alongside a flight of 2004 Clos Vougeots. |
