January 2011
Tasmania is now proving that it can make some pretty formidable Pinot Noir and each year, even with vintage variations, the quality keeps getting better and better. This has lovely freshness and highlighting acidity, with a light spice and floral lift that accentuates the bright, juicy red fruit base. Medium bodied the texture has a sleek, silkiness and finer grained, almost powdery tannins giving enough grip to focus the fruit on the lingering finish. Showing well know, this should be enjoyed over the next couple of years to maximize its vibrant fruit. |

Medium red. Spicy red berries, cherry, mocha and white pepper on the nose, with a subtle floral quality that gains strength with air. A juicy, gently sweet midweight that offers bright red fruit flavors and a tangy note of blood orange. Refreshingly brisk and fat-free, with very good finishing clarity and spicy cut. I like this wine's light touch and wonder how many people would pick it as a New World wine.
90 pts Wine Advocate Issue #195 June 2011
Matured for 10 months in 30% new and 70% seasoned French oak barriques, the 2007 Pinot Noir gives a medium ruby color and expressive notes of warm red cherries, red currants and black raspberries with hints of cinnamon dust, allspice and black pepper. Medium bodied and very peppery / fruity in the mouth, it is well supported by crisp acid and a medium level of chewy tannins. The finish is long with a slight savory / toastiness coming through. Drink it now to 2015. |
