This has a spicy lift to the nose, subtle, yet ever so faint suggestion of baker’s spice, a touch of meaty, smokiness, toasty oak, which creates a slight vanilla component along with beet root., and rich cherry, raspberry and red plum on the nose. This has the silky texture of Pinot Noir that one looks for but with a rich textural weight, along with sleek, riper, well integrated tannins giving this a medium, medium- fuller body. Lots of initial toasty oak overlays the darker red fruit but with aeration settles in giving the fruit a smoky, almost burnt, yet vibrant raspberry/ cherry, red berry fruit flavor to its profile. The wines higher alcohol, 14%, gives a warmth to the fruit on the finish as well as some textural roundness in the mid palate |

Light and lithe, with gorgeous red cherry and raspberry fruit on a slender frame, shaded with spicy, peppery notes. The finish sails away nicely. Drink now through 2012. |
