Pinotage is unequivocally South African and Fairview Estate is without a doubt one of the top producers when it comes to consistency and value for the buck. Fairview’s 2006 Pinotage is true to form in that it really over delivers offering up gobs assorted of sweet lifted red fruit punctuated with subtle, higher toned banana whiffs and the evident but well constrained smoke and charcoal nuances of the varietal. Juicy to the core, vibrant and rich this shows a lot of character for the money and should really drink nicely over the next couple of years.
