Deep, rich garnet with youthful purple hues. A bold spicy nose overflowing with rich ripe fruits, blackberry and plum undertones of black olive, cedar and cinnamon. Well structured tannins overlayed with juicy fruit, well balanced acidity and luxurious long fruited finish. Comments: A concentrated well balanced wine which will develop well over the next tive to eight years.
Winemaker Notes
Grapes were hand picked, crushed into open fermenter where they were cold soaked for five days, then during fermentation punched down by hand six times a day. Skins gently pressed and racked into barrels for twelve months with one racking at six months then given a light filtration pre-bottling. We endeavour to bring our fruit to the bottle in the most direct and pure fashion possible, and in this way express our terrior. This 12 year old vineyard is planted on a southern slope. To maintain the integrity of our fruit, all our grapes are harvested by hand into small lug boxes, and transported directly to the winery. All our vineyards are planted high density and have low to very low yields and are managed according to minimal intervention philosophy.
