Rich, creamy style, with fig, pie crust and grilled hazelnut. |
Tasting
Notes |
|
The wine has a rich, yellow-green color. Hints of candied cinnamon and cloves on the nose with citrus and lime follow through to the palate where creamy vanilla and peach flavors are backed by soft wood tannins.
This is a Chardonnay with a fair amount of skin extract and it shows by the length that the taste remains in the mouth. |

Rich, creamy style, with fig, pie crust and grilled hazelnut notes leading the way, followed by hints of pear tartine and spice on the lush finish. Nicely done. Drink now through 2008. 700 cases made.

Winemaker Notes |
Grapes from a very mature Chardonnay vineyard were handpicked and whole bunch pressed before settling the juice overnight. The clean juice was racked to barrel where natural fermentation occurred. Very little malolactic fermentation took place and after 12 months maturation on gross lees, the wine was racked, filtered and bottled. This vineyard block is close to 30 years old, which is old for South African Chardonnay. It was organically farmed (although not certified) and produced intensely concentrated grapes. |
