Dona Paula 'Alluvia' Cabernet Franc 2008 nicely done - beautiful expression of the varietal

Notes
July 2011
The 2008 Dona Paula ‘Alluvia’ Cabernet Franc is a high elevation cool climate offering with captivating varietal expression without any greenness or leafy notes, that showcases black currant and darker red fruits complemented with a nice combo of a floral and a light spice box accents to the nose. Medium fuller bodied, this shows good fruit concentration in the palate without being heavy, with a core of red currant and cassis fruit, subtly spiced, backed with finer, powdery tannins. Supple and engaging this is more about refinement than power which plays perfectly towards the varietal and its cool climate origins. Showing nicely as we speak this should drink gorgeously over the next 3-4 years quite easily.
