89(+?) pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 2011 Dark saturated ruby. Crushed cassis, licorice pastille and a hint of menthol on the pure but reticent nose. Concentrated but imploded today, with firm acidity giving a brutal quality to the black fruit, licorice and violet flavors. Very pure and varietally accurate, but with its restrained sweetness and building tannins, this bound-up wine calls for patience.
