88pts Pierre-Antoine Rovani, The Wine Advocate, #155 10/25/04 An excellent value, the non-vintage Cape Ruby Port (#3258 certification seal) is a blend of 50% Tinta Barraca, 45% Touriga Nacional, and 5% Souzão. Its sweet red fruit and chocolate aromas lead to a medium-bodied, suave personality. Cherries, raspberries, and strawberries can be found in its attractive, flavorful, softly-textured, and slightly warm (from alcohol) character. It should be drunk over the next 6 years."

Light bodied, with juicy raisin, boysenberry and linzer torte flavors, backed by spice and plum cake notes.
88 pts Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas and flavors of dark cherry, black licorice, cinnamon, maple syrup and earth. Rich and mellow for ruby, and not a fiery style of port, with the neutral oak (and clean alcohol tones) making for easier early drinkability. A rather elegant style with good energy and length. Drink now or hold. |
