92 pts Wine Advocate Issue #171 June 2007
The limited (1500 cases) 2005 Pinot Noir Ocio, from the Casablanca Valley, spent 14 months in 100% new French oak. Deeply colored, with a brooding, nearly jammy blue fruit perfume, this layered, mouth-filling wine offers complex flavors and a fruit-laden finish. Fans of red Burgundy might find this large-scaled Pinot Noir to be a bit over-the-top but lovers of the Pinots coming out of the Santa Rita Hills should have no problem identifying with it. The 2006 Pinot Noir Central Valley and 2006 Pinot Noir Vision are terrific values, good news for American consumers whose love affair with Pinot continues unabated.
